By kind permission of Jenny Lee and family, Park House Farm, Torpenhow, Wigton, Cumbria
Join Women in Dairy to meet the 2024 Dairy Industry Women of the Year Award finalist:
Cumbrian farmer and regenerative trailblazer Jenny Lee
Jenny grew up on her family’s dairy farm she went on to pursue a career in teaching and it was not until her parents stepped back that she felt the pull to return. Whilst she and her husband Mark tried the original intensive system run by her parents, they soon realised that it wasn’t for them and the couple now run a very successful pasture-based, organic operation. They are now leading the way when it comes to regenerative practices and are focused on showing how an agro-ecological farm is good for the land, wildlife, cows and its people. Jenny also understands the values of connecting with the community and regularly invites apprentices, groups and school children to the farm, plays host to large-scale events and has two active social media accounts for the farm’s cheese and gelato businesses.
We are joined by Sarah Bolt (WiD Facilitator), and Becca Cavill from Women in Dairy’s National Sponsor Boehringer Ingelheim who will discuss how Optimax can help motivate change within the business – being receptive to change has played a major part in the success stories, personal lives and businesses of each of our finalists.
Lunch and refreshments will be provided and there will be plenty of time for networking and discussion.
